Time flies.... 3 years of Bachelor's Degree life has ended in a glimpse of eye, there goes my 4 month-holiday as well. It was very hectic and troublesome for the plannings and things to prepare before the trip (air tickets, travel insurance, packing of luggage, itinerary, day trips, accommodation, car rental, exchanging of currencies etc) but thank GOD i am able to pull through and had a well-planned and enjoyable trip. I shall begin with our very first day of our trip.........
DAY 1: Departure to Perth- King's Park- Crown Casino
Our flight was at 7am which was why we need to gather at Penang International Airport by 5:30am. JW was there first no surprise, i was second, followed up by KW (family eating McD) and SL was late (no surprise either!). When it was almost our turn to check in, ZY called and unfortunately, we couldn't get her into the queue. Everything was smooth and off we went into the boarding gates. Bumped into Jennifer Tang as well. Duration was 50 minutes to KLIA, had some Vietnamese Pho as breakfast (damn expensive, few of us had nearly Rm90 just for breakfast) and off we headed to Perth.
Arrived at 3:15pm and things were very smooth unexpectedly, especially the quarantine-declaring of things. None of our things were confiscated by the immigration fortunately, headed to Hertz and get our car rented. Procedures were rather complicated (we wished to pay by CASH but we were asked to have our credit card bill signed and they will freeze it, it will drop off automatically after 14 working days) but thank GOD, we've managed to get to our car safely by 4:30pm. It was a car in red- KIA Grand Carnival, 8 seater. It did not take us a very long time to get our luggage loaded on the car but things were not that smooth after we had jumped onto our car. My dad and i couldn't located the hand brake! After some complicated checking, we've finally found out that it was a hand-pulled hand brake. Well it was a decent car, at least it served us well for the entire trip.
As soon as we reached our rented-accommodation at Lynwood, we quickly unloaded our luggage and get our face washed. Dinner was up next. I thought it would be great that we could head to Victoria Park for some Vietnamese Pho (Toto's) but i was wrong... they were closed. We had to make a detour back to the city of Perth for some Japanese Ramen. Everyone was satisfied and full so we've decided to go for a short walk at King's Park for a night view. Overlooking at the city of Perth (further "complemented" by the night breeze and breath-taking scenery) was a memorable moment. Without wasting a single moment, i've decided to bring them to Crown Casino (previously Bursewood Casino) and contributed some money to them. Most of us were very tired and we had to call it a night before 12pm as everyone was obviously exhausted with the traveling.
DAY 2: Waterford Plaza- Curtin University- Harbor Town
Day 2 was definitely one of the most hectic days for our entire trip. We had to wake up at early morning (thanks to me as i need to pick up my luggage at Shuen's place- St. James). After that, we headed to Waterford Plaza at Karawara for Subway as breakfast before our collection of Regalia (mom and dad had theirs already before we departed from our house). The Subway was lovely, love their Cheddar cheese and fluffy freshly baked bun. It was around 11am before we headed to Curtin, finding a parking there was tedious. Left with no choice i had to park my car at Canning College (behind Vickery House) but found out latter that Curtin's car park is open to public on that few consecutive days.
How can we not shooting any photos after collecting our regalia? We did manage to meet up with Boon Siang, Shu En, Stephy and Jia Shyan at the John Curtin Gallery building. We did put the regalia on and start taking photos. It was around 1:30pm by the time we had finished. Starving again so we had to head back to city for some food and shopping at Harbor Town! Horrible things happened there where i've nearly lost my passport.... thank god.... Anyhow, managed to grab some delicious stuff from there (Esprit T shirt, French Connection shorts and Industrie T shirt). It was around 5:30pm by the time we left.... headed home to have our dinner cooked (managed to buy some groceries at Woolworths, Carousel before heading back home).
Special guest of the night was Nicole! She joined us for dinner after her work. Met her at Woolworths Carousel while we were doing our shopping for the needs. I guess she did enjoy the dinner pretty much. More photo-taking sessions after dinner at the poolside located at the backyard of our house.
DAY 3: Westfield Carousel- Curtin University
So the long-waited day has arrived.... our graduation ceremony! The girls were pretty occupied with their own outfits and regalia (ironing, make ups etc) so they've decided to stay at home after the home-cooked breakfast while me and my parents have decided to go for a short walk at Westfield Carousel, particularly K-Mart! Yay... what a charming place where i get my 3 pairs of shoes bought at unbelievable price (one pair of red shoes bought at aud 3! like OMG), my parents were able to grab some nice stuff too. We headed back home at around 1+pm. Starting to prepare lunch, as well as get myself prepared for the graduation ceremony.
Just some random shots after getting ready for the ceremony. I was kinda regret for bringing such a no-shape, no-cutting-kinda shirt to there, i'd be sure to bring something slim fit so my ex-housemate (Shien Wei) couldn't say i am fat...hmph!
More shots after we have met with our friends- Shu En, Xiang Ying, Hui Min and Joo Win. Just in case you are curious, the big bear KW was holding costs Aud 85 (equivalent to Rm 272) and the smaller one JW was holding costs Aud 45 (around Rm 144 after conversion). How filthy rich can these 2 fella be? Anyway, i'd rather have Rm 272 hugged right in front of my chest rather than the bear.
My ex-housemate was kind enough to drop by and witness one of the most important moments of my life! Tsk, hate to admit this part but he certainly has lost some weight. Malnutrition because Ken wasn't there to cook all the wonderful dishes for him... poor thing. Miss the days where we cooked and had dinner together, laughter together with my ex-housemates- Yoga and Daniel.
I seriously respect how the Australians manage their time. The ceremony ended on time and the rundown of the entire event was very professional (timing for speech, granting of certificates as well as the fireworks). More photos after the ceremony. Had to leave earlier for the idiotic studio photography which costs me Aud 20 but horrible quality. Wasted my time and missed the chance to have more photos with my friends. Headed home shortly, some of us had the leftover fried rice from lunch and some had instant cup noodles brought over from Malaysia.
DAY 4: Araluen Botanical Park- Westfield Carousel
We've prepared ourselves some bentos for a mini picnic at Araluen (to cut costs, we are poor D; ). The sun was big and it was hot but there few fellas here were obviously exaggerating, how could they possibly wore like Vietnamese/ Bangladesh/ Japanese Soldier? I'd rather to be grilled under the sun.... i swear i would never ever dress up that way!
These people should literally learn from me... simple yet stylish *wink* We did bring some fresh fruits as well as chilled beverage there... Some candid shots while we were savoring the home cooked goods.
Some of my favorite shots of the day. Araluen simply means "running waters" by the Aborigines. What a true beauty from the creation of mother nature. I'd reckon it should be a decent place for family city-getaway.
More group photos at the peak of the mountain. I love the way they designed and sculptured the waterfall. Breath-taking. I remembered that it took me few hours to shoot all the environment/ flowers here during my previous trip. I could spend more time taking portraiture with some hot models here too.
Last stop at Araluen Botanical Park was this small cozy restaurant- Chalet Healy Tearoom. I have blogged about this previously on my blog, purposely brought them here for the heavenly good Scones. Love the way how they managed and handled the fresh cream, as well as maintaining the fluffiness within the Scones. Before the orders were sent to our tables, we did manage to take a couple shots at the al-fresco corridor dining area right beside the restaurant. It was enjoyable and relaxing... headed back to Carousel for more groceries, we did drop by McD for their ice cream (JW requested for it) too.
Stay tuned for more in the up coming days of our graduation trip in Perth, Western Australia.
