As planned earlier, it finally came true! Our graduation trip to Malacca/ Cameron Highlands, although i was really tired to plan at first but since i've invited my friends and told them about it, i guess i'll have to cease the procrastination and go on with it. The plan was rather chaotic but thank GOD i've managed to pull it over and things went smoothly as planned..... this post will be acting sorta like my "diary" on the happenings and experiences during our trip...
Day 1:
The 8 of us gathered in Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal early morning at around 9:45am and the latest fella to reach being Shu Ling. Huang Yan was there to send Ziyee and Kai Wen off, at the same time, she announces that she'll be leaving on our last day of tour. Anyway, we still managed to take some photos with her.
Off we go after the photo taking session. The journey to Malacca was rather smooth until.................... some one had diarrhea. The tragedy happened one hour before our arrival, culprit was believed to be the Nasi Lemak she had in some R&R after KL. The facial expression by her and the tense create among the members were indescribable and way beyond words. After this horrible tragedy, we've finally managed to reach Malacca, which was around 8pm-ish.
The Baba-Nyonya eatery was closed and it was getting darker, with not much of choices left, we've decided to settle our meal at some random Japanese eatery at Mahkota Parade. After that, we've managed to find our way to this famous dessert cake house- Nadeje. The Mille Crepe cakes have successfully created hype amongst the girls, especially Jw, Kw, and Zy. It's always good to see that people are actually enjoying what i've planned for them.
Day 2:
Day 2 begins with an early morning call, everyone was cooperative enough to gather on time and off we go.
We've passed by this place during our way to Jonker Walk. A first official "group photo" at Malacca.
Again.... the Hainanese Association was closed due to some unforeseen circumstances and we were left with no options again but this..... the so called 不油的鸡饭粒。 The meal was rather disappointing due to its oiliness and rough texture of the chicken, bland-ness of the Curry fish and over-cooked vegetables. Prices were okay tho....
We've decided to have a short walk around the Jonker area, first destination was the 三叔公 right beside Hoe Kee chicken rice, which sells some local delicacies and some exotic unique products. Jw and Bs were among the millionaires who bought the most from there.
We've walked....walked.... and walked.... until they have met this cacat fella whom writes some sorta Chinese poem using names. These 2 fellas were egg-cited enough to donate Rm20 each for a recycle-d paper with some wordings on it.
The weather was unbearably hot and our shirts were covered with sweats after some souvenir-buying at some pineapple tarts shop. We've decided to have one of Malacca's most famous desserts- Durian Cendol. The cendol was just okay in my opinion, with too few of durians and over-used of Gula Melaka. Too sweet to my liking.
More photography at the historical places of Malacca such as Stadthuys, Christ Church, Kota Famosa etc... All of these were within walking distance from our hotel, how convenient was that? As most of us were too tired after the walking, many have asked for a short break to our hotel. Off we go again to Mahkota Parade for some tour, it was the time i've spent a lot, particularly on my Esprit pants and Burberry Polo Shirt, never regretted as they were priced reasonably. Anyway, another tragedy happened to our poor Jw again, she fell down onto the floor elegantly, i wasn't aware of this issue until we heard some screaming from the back (Kw and I were both walking in the front line) and what i saw was Zc offering his helping hands. Must be the fats leaked from her body that made the floor greasy and slippery, tsk tsk!
Dinner was settled at the branch of Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup which was okay, as we felt that it would be unnecessary to queue for the Capitol Satay Celup despite the fact that its more famous but everything comes in a price, in this case, an 1.5 hrs queue. We had to walk the long journey back to Mahkota Parade to collect Zy/Kw/Jw souvenirs. Bs headed back first (I have forgotten the reason behind).
Day 3:
Day 3 kick started off with a tense morning, with very early morning call and departure. We were lucky enough to find ourselves some early tickets to KL. We've opted to spare some time out in KL as well, for some shopping and leisure. Members were split into two groups, Zc/Xr/Bs/Sl went to Pavilion while the other gang, being me/ Zy/Kw/Jw went for a shop at Lot 10 and Berjaya Times Square. WAIT ! I think something amusing happened to Jw before we've managed to get to Sungei Wang (from Puduraya Bus Terminal), due to the heavy human traffic at train stations, the Kia-Su Jw was rushing towards the front part of the line (Yes, Jumped the queue in other words) and managed to squeeze into the line (Don't ask me how!), doors were shut as the train was about to overload with passengers, we were split into two gangs (particularly into different doors- Zc/Bs/Me), all of us gathered after the train has departed. After some head-counts, we've found out that Jw was the ONLY one whom managed to get onto the train. All the members couldn't help but laughed.... until we've managed to meet her.
We were supposed to meet at 3:30pm but we were late, i'd say that the blame goes to Zy/ Jw as these 2 fella were keep shitting all the way long. Anyway, we still manage to buy ourselves a bowl of Snowflake and i must say that it was good, better than Black Balls (yucks).
The road to Cameron Highlands was steep and winding enough, all of us (except Bs/Sl) were in dizzy mode and thank GOD that Kw didn't puke because of that. After some quick dinner (steamboat- it was a scam!), we've grabbed some cheap alcohol (beers/ red wines) and some tidbits to kick start out party of the night. It was indeed, a memorable night.
Day 4:
Members were allowed to sleep until 11:30am on Day 4 as our itinerary planned wasn't too tight. After some fast breakfast (Hong Kie Breakfast?), all i can remember was having some sorta random Porridge which tasted horrible and full of MSGs. Anyway, we've decided to rent 2 cabs (after some quotations from the travel agency), 1 hour for Rm25 and we've rent for 4 hours in total.
First destination was the furthest, to Rose Valley. Cam-whore happened there too but one of the saddest stories happened here again, the legendary lady (Jw) had her head knocked onto the Rose plant (OUCH, 好痛涅~ 那颗树~~~) main reason was her Kiasu-ness again as she was rushing to join the gang for a group photo, tsk tsk tsk. Anyway, nothing much worth to mention in Rose Valley as there were basically photography sessions only. Next destination was Bee Farm where we've purchased some Pearl Sweet-corns and souvenirs, Bs was the richie that spent millions on the Honey products, tsk tsk tsk!
Well frankly speaking, this was probably my favorite destinations of all, i just like the weather there, as well as the ambiance, wouldn't mind travelling to there again if it wasn't the winding road =/
It was a rainy night and the weather was chilly that night, we've actually planned for the Organic Vegetables Steamboat but again... it was closed. We've decided to go for another substitute, which was situated right opposite to the steamboat. Mint Leaf cafe offers both western and chinese cuisine, we've opted to go for the steamboat and stir-fried dishes mixed, prices were reasonable considering the taste and portion. Not a bad choice seriously, i would go back for the Chicken if this cafe is opening in Penang :P
Day 5:
Day 5 was our last day, morning call followed by a breakfast nearby, which was Wanton mee.
The Wanton Mee was yuck-ish according to some, i personally find it bad but thank GOD they do provide us with some chopped chilies which eased my pain.
A short tour at Strawberry Farm followed shortly after the breakfast. We get to savor the Strawberry Ice Stick (Rm 1 each) which was good, tho it might be just some cordial-ice sticks but it does bring back some childhood memories.
We've managed to spare some time before catching our bus back to Penang so we've decided to spend some time on this San Poh Temple (10 minutes walk from our hotel). The temple has nothing specifically but we just pray for GOD's sake.
Nightmare happens again while we were walking back towards the hotel, we've spotted our bus (exact number plate given on the ticket) and it was moving passed our hotel, we were so nervous that the bus has left us out (special stop for us, we weren't in the terminal) but fortunately and unfortunately we've managed to get on the bus BUT we had to wait until 3:30pm (departure supposedly at 2:30pm) due to tyre/tire puncture. AS such, it concludes our graduation tour to Malacca/ Cameron Highlands. No doubt it was a memorable and enjoyable trip for the very few of us.
