Things that i've learnt during these 18 weeks

So just a quick summary on what i've learnt on these 18 weeks of stay in Perth, i've learnt that............

1) Perth is a very boring place.

2) Curtin University's washrooms are not that clean as you thought they would be.

3) Students would rather steal the toilet papers from Curtin rather than buying them from supermarkets.

4) Not every lecturer/tutors are good in teaching, nor their english.

5) Food are every expensive here. A bowl of Ramen would cost around $10-$12.

6) Curtin's doughnuts are decent.

7) 在外靠朋友.

8) Most Australians know some other languages other than English (they are required to learn in high schools).

9) Perth has a lot of Chinese, particularly Malaysians, Singaporeans and Chinese (from China).

10) Perth city is a decent place to shop for branded stuff.

11) Transperth (something like our Rapid) does not necessarily puncture.

12) Don't trust others' taste buds, when they are telling you something or certain restaurant's food are nice, never trusted them until you have tasted.

13) Perth's transportation is the worst on Sundays.

14) Curtin's hostels are blood-sucking hell.

15) It could be problematic when it comes to finding exam venue (the bloody farking Curtin stadium is hell far from my place).

16) Lottery West is my new love.

17) Harbor Town is a heaven.

18) Chilliz = hate.

19) Perth's casino is not as nice as Malaysia's.

20) Coles has been my best friend since then.

21) I might be a "neat-freak" a.k.a. 洁癖.

22) Malaysians seriously can't live without Chili Padi.

23) I won't miss Char Koay Teow, Assam Laksa, Hokkien Mee at all.

24) I am not a fan of fast food.

25) I miss my car a lot, more than my TV.

26) Good housemates 可遇不可求.

27) Good housemates make your life easier.

28) Housing areas of Perth is suitable for jogging.

29) Macadamia nuts are expensive.

30) Desserts in Perth are relatively better than Malaysia's.

31) Australians love coffee just the way they love cheese.

32) Aborigines are annoying.

33) Getting a car in Perth is cheap.

34) Steaks are 12928321372632740272323982836 times better in Perth as to Malaysia.

35) The freshness of meat and egg is beyond words.

36) I really enjoy taking photos and blogging.

37) I am talented in cooking.

38) My taste buds are relatively sharper than most of my friends.

39) Ang mos are generous in spending and they are friendly....well, most of the time.

40) MAS (Malaysian Airlines) is definitely one of the worst airlines ever. True story.

41) Perth's weather is so unpredictable.

42) Most locals/ang mos don't value graduation ceremony.

43) I can't live without fruits.

44) How to do laundry and wash toilets.

45) Azdrama.net is now one of my favorite sites.

46) Life is easier with mobile internet data plan.

47) Perth has very little shopping malls.

48) Perth has nice beach.

49) Scoopon is one of the best online voucher company....ever.

50) I have been eating strawberries for.....say....16 weeks out of 18 weeks stay, as in every single day of the 16 weeks.

51) Perth's international airport is small.

52) Perth city is scary after 7pm every night.

53) I've lost some weight here.

54) I can live without eating rice.

55) Sun-lotion is a must during day time, lip gloss or any cream/lotion are necessity when it comes to winter.

56) It's bloody expensive to have a hair cut in Perth.

57) I am obsessed with toilet papers.

58) Gyms' member fees are hell expensive in Perth.

59) I am still alive despite of being isolated in a foreign country for 18 weeks.

60) 48 hours till my departure (as at the time i am writing this blog post).

Updates

So my miserable life continues after the leaving of Ky from Perth. Over the weekend, due to john's presence at Perth, Nicole wanted to bring him to visit more places and since she has a car, she might as well asking me to tag along. It was a sunny day and the weather was alright (in terms of temperature =x), we went to this river place, where it was like 10 minutes drive away from Curtin University. Due to the setting of our mother nature, apparently there will be a small island in the middle of the river bed where after the water has faded, a road will appear and visitors can actually walk towards the little island (which apparently at the middle of the river). Amusing isn't it? The place was DAMN windy and i was told to wear shorts, too sexy and too cold. I finally get to understand how those stripper feels like to work under such cold weather (it wasn't about the weather, just the bloody wind). Never mind, below were some shots of the days.

Due to the limited seats in Nicole's car, we had to sacrifice Shu En but she had BBQ party in the afternoon pass evening either. Anyway, Wei Zhe tagged along either and John was staying at his room during his whole period of visit. We have tried to make different funny posts but turned out to be weird and awkward, especially the not-so-nice Oppa Gangnam style. Nicole is a bad choreographer, seriously! I don't feel like making my shoes dirty so i did not walk across the water just to go over the island.

After sending Wei Zhe back to Erica underwood (another Curtin's hostel) due to work, off we headed to King's Park. King's Park has the biggest botanical garden across the entire Western Australia and its famous because of its breath-taking scenery as well. We have started our cam-whoring with a portraiture of every single one of us, sitting on the green green grass; followed by some nice photos taking the awesome scenery as back ground. You can actually oversee Perth city from King's Park (well, probably just part of it).

In case you are wondering... and YEP, we've just changed another angle and shot some photos LOL but the lighting was good as it was quite near to evening, the weak-strong-ish light would create a nice effect for the photos.

We were all starving after the day tour and off we headed to Northbridge (Chinatown) for a decent meal. We went to a place named "Hawker Stall" which i was told that it was being operated by Malaysians. I was not in the mood of having rice-dishes so i had might as well skipped the rice thing and proceeded to order my Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun (which tasted like Koay Teow Th'ng). It costs me Aud $12 for that stupid bowl of Koay Teow Th'ng PLUS i was asking for a small plate of fresh chilies and they actually told me that i had to pay an extra Aud $0.50 for that. I just couldn't recover from the tremor and can't accept the fact that i have spent more than Rm40 on a bowl of Koay Teow Th'ng. FML. Why is this world so unfair, where poor gets poorer and rich gets richer. Australia is country that scams. Seriously.

Up next was dessert! YAY......not. Drat. It simply means i had to spend more. Anyway, since i haven't tried this kind of dessert before and John was more than willing to share a portion with me, why not? San Churro can be found everywhere basically, from City to Fremantle. Churros, a type of Spanish doughnut dip with melted chocolate is apparently one of their must-try dishes. We opted for the White Chocolate and Dark Chocolate instead, just to try the big contrast between the flavors. The Churros turned out to be very good, better than what i was expecting in fact. They weren't sweet at all although we had to dip them into the chocolates, just perfect. It would be great if you get a couple of your friends to share with you as it would be too filling to simply wallop the whole portion yourself. Portion of 6 Churros + 2 choices of melted chocolate costs Aud $ 13.90.

More evidence of us swallowing extra calories into our stomachs. T_T

The next day, we had dinner at Nicole's place (i was kidnapped as a forced-chef) and she chauffeured us to King's Park AGAIN! But this time was due to its night view. I had my tripod prepared to shoot every single lights that night. OH! It was August-15th according to the Lunar calendar, which means, it was the Mid-Autumn night. I bet everyone was having moon cakes or at least some reunion dinners/decent meals with friends and family. Well, we did spend our time wisely too, the moon was so bright and round. I was trying on some new techniques on making shadows on the pictures. They weren't photoshop-ed or edited. All the photos above were real in effect. I just made the shutter speed slower so we had to jump off the scenes right before the full-capturing moment. It must be done using a tripod anyway.

John and I went to the zoo at city the next day. I have yet to visit the zoo and just might as well bring him there and tour around with him. It was a bloody public holiday which basically the whole Perth's transportation has gone into paralyzed mode. Utterly annoying. Anyway, went to see all these miserable animals, either being caged or dumped into the pool and let it swims. I was quite happy to find out that the zoo has penguins BUT... there were only three penguins in total, where one was actually sleeping. Not a fan of Kangaroos but the Koalas are cute as in they sleep most of the time and has no contribution to the earth but they take out and occupy oxygen. What a waste. Took some photos with John and just tour around the area.

We went for dinner after that, had Ramen at a restaurant at Northbridge, where customers are actually allowed to ask for free portion of Ramen anytime you want. You can have them refilled for countless times either, but they are charged at the original price stated on the menu. John was horrible, he had 3 balls of Ramens (just imagine you eat 3 packets of instant noodles together 0-0") while i had two. Bloody full and nearly puke. Felt so guilty right after that, felt like committing suicide.

Few days later, which is tonight (Friday), we went to Ciao Italia (a famous Italian restaurant in Perth where basically recommended by most of the people) with Nicole, Wye Min, Miao Fang, Wei Zhe, Sharon and her sister. The total 7 of us ordered 5 main courses and 1 dessert. I wasn't too full but i wasn't keen to eat a lot either, the dishes were either too creamy, high in calories or they were too salty. I was rather disappointed with their so called Woodfired Pizzas which have no special fragrance from the wood at all. Others were okay but considering the prices (on average of Aud $25 to $40 for a main course). Each of us shared Aud $22, oh well, at least i have tried before but i wouldn't return to this restaurant anymore as most of the dishes were just okay to me. Lack of the "kick". Tsk Tsk.

Oh well, that pretty much sums up my 2 weeks right after Ky's leave. Glad that i have sorted out the air ticket issues and have the E ticket printed out. I have told the office of Vickery House about my leaving too. Feels relief. Anyway, if you are curious about the date that i'm coming back, its Oct 2X, 2012. :P You will know it when you receive my sms or via Facebook updates. HAHAHA.
