A Trip to AQWA

How's it going guys ? Another week has passed by, time flies seriously, the past week has been a really good week for me, particularly in terms of utilizing my spare time in doing something more meaningful and exciting. The week kick-started with a good news of some of my photo shots were published on one of Western Australia's Chinese newspaper- Australian Chinese Times. You might be wondering why has this happened all the sudden, well, i've kinda read through this column and has been a loyal supporter to this newspaper since my first week in Uni, the main reason was the newspapers will be given free *yay!* right in front of Curtin's main library. Anyway, i've just email-ed them few days ago before the publication and guess what, the photos were published. It was out of expectation as i was expecting a week later or so. Friday was okay, had a lunch with Wye Min and went shopping for groceries with Shu En.

Saturday was the very much anticipated day trip to AQWA (The Aquarium of Western Australia) which i was told that this aquarium is one of the biggest aquariums in Australia and top 10 in the world, tho i had to pay Aud $20 for this trip but i think its a good value of money since the transportation was included and subsided by my hostel.

AQWA is situated at Hillarys, north of Perth, the trip took us roughly 40 minutes and we were asked to take a group photo together. The scenery at Hillarys was breath-taking, the sea, the ships, the people, there was a lady nearly naked swimming/ playing around by the beach too, should have taken a photo on that but i was kinda afraid that people will label me as pervert.

The walk-path in the aquarium was made easy with this auto-running belt to provide flexibility to the visitors. Visitors whom are lazy or tired to walk can opt to stand on the belt and let it brings you through the aquarium OR you can just step aside to enjoy the underwater scenery. There were plenty of sharks, sea turtles, huge fishes around but who cares right ? As in they are just fish and no-one was there to cook for me.

More species of underwater living things like Jellyfish, corals etc. They do provide magnifying glasses for visitors to have a closer look on the coral reefs too.

After you finished touring the underwater aquarium and you will stumble upon this touch-to-experience pool near the exit. There were hell lot of Starfish, Stingrays for you to touch, did not bother to touch Stingray we can find tonnes of them in Tesco can't we ? Anyway, i just get my hands on the starfish which annoyed and let me down, nothing much interesting, i might as well self-touch my body. :D

More and more pools outside, you will be required to walk for another 92373562438732 km just to see a couple of Stingray, how annoying was that ?

More cam-whoring session by myself. You know the pitiful and awkward moment when you are traveling alone, that you need to set up a tripod and had the settings set to self-timer just to take a couple of your own photos.

My first attempt on High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos and the results were astonishing, did receive some good compliments and self-satisfaction to the max. Self-satisfaction in Malay = Syok Sendiri ?

The long walk-way to Sorrento Quay, a place full of shop houses and scams/traps set up for tourist. A T-shirt costs up to Aud $69.90, how serious can the scam be ? Other than that, there was a stretch of eateries around that area too, didn't bother to try any of them as i was too poor, i had to bring my own bento there and sit at a corner to enjoy. Pathetic.

More cam-whoring session at the nearby waterfront. The ships, the wind....everything was in coordination and aligned to the perfect. How good if Penang has such scenery too.

Since i was alone and i have plenty of time to spare out (i didn't dine in those sophisticated and throat-cutting restaurants due to my poor-until-like-beggar status), i took a 20 minutes walk to the beach nearby just to see what those ang-mos were up to. The beach was exceptionally clean and the sea breeze was just awesome. People fishing, playing with water around but it doesn't suit me anyway, tho i adore the scenery pretty much, i am not a beach-kinda person, i can't even endure standing on the sand, so dirty...ewwwwwwww, slogan of the day: Beach is meant for bitches.

Moved on the sunday, woke up at 11am (which was kinda late), had breakfast with housemate (just some simple cereals) and received a message from Kelly (Kelvin Lim), asking me whether i was interested to follow him and his friends to Northbridge (Chinatown) for a Thai Food Fair.

These were mine, i had Chili Mussels (Aud $8) and Salted Mackerel with Rice( Aud $9), i know right... i kena chopped jor..... the food was okay but they weren't superb nor awesome, just okay but it was kinda good experience tho, to see how Asians unite in foreign countries and have their own events. My sunday afternoon was occupied with tutorials. No, i did not do them but i did copy most of the answers (no answers no need to do lah) and had my fortnight-ritual (gotong-royong of hostel due to inspection) done. Mentally and physically tired but not too willing to sleep as class starts at 11:30pm tomorrow. Week 5 starts soon, which rings a bell hinting i will be back SOON!    :D :D :D :D
