So i have been pretty lazy with my own personal blog lately, knowing that some of my closer friends would love to know how am i doing in Perth, i'll just have some quick updates on the stuff i have been up to lately. So it was a freezing cold Saturday (nothing much happened on Thursday and Friday so i'll just skip that part), led by Shu En, we went to this Farmers Market at Manning Road (approximately 15-20 minutes walk from Vickery House), the market will be opened/available on every Saturday, from 8am to 1pm. Fresh vegetables, meat, dairy products can be bought there, at relatively cheaper prices compared to super markets. I have no idea why the temperature was so damn low that we (Shu En and i) were freezing, it was pretty unusual since it should not be that cold during day time, anyway, we still endured the cold and walked around the market area.
I would seriously love to try all these fresh carrots, i love the way they present all these carrots but i have no idea on how to cook them yet, shall do some research before i get my hands on them few weeks later :D
Gardening stuff can be bought here as well, i was thinking to get a pot or two to be placed at my own room but i am kinda anti those soil thing since i find them pretty dirty and soil does not match with my bed sheet does it ?
Freshly baked breads but they are pretty pricey too, would love to try them but i guess not too soon, must make sure that i have enough "reserves" first right :P
Carrot is such an adorable thing in Australia, they actually come in a lot of sizes, colors and flavors, one of the weirdest ones i find was this Black Carrot. Does the color resembles its poisonous status ? Can someone be killed after eating this ? I guess i shall cook some for Shu En first :D
There were quite a wide selection of food available, but due to the timing (it was around 9am), i just lost my appetite (for those that know me well should know that i don't take breakfast that early), anyway, they are not cheap as well, but i was told by Shu En that one of the pizzas over there is decent, and there was another stall selling hot dogs are in long-queue, i shall return next week or so just to taste them out :P
Right after next, Kelvin came to my hostel and asked me out. After we ditched Shu En at Karawara (she had her weird job interview there, first round of interview requires her to make sandwiches, i should literally take some pictures of her making sandwiches, clumsiness to the max), we actually went to Fremantle, thanks to his friend borrowing him a car, we get to reach there after a 20-minute drive. I always wanted to visit this place since its pretty famous of its breath-taking scenery.
Street performance is one of the most common things to be seen in Fremantle, they are basically every corner of Fremantle, from Magic show, juggling etc to statue-disguise, give them a penny if you think that their performances are awesome but for me, i did not. Someone should literally donate to me since i am so damn poor.....sobz......
Kel then brought me to this Fremantle market to have a look, tonnes of the local delicacies can be found here, not only as such, they do have some special and unique ones like Paella, Macaroons, Cupcakes, Doughnuts etc... I wanted to try that Paella out, but we were supposed to try the Ramen out (we had to order, paid then wait for at least 15-30minutes for the Ramen to be served).
Kel saw this and he was like, WOW, I want one! SO he just grabbed one of these, which apparently some doughnut-like thing (with sugar coated of course) and topped with some blackberry jam, which i THINK it was super duper sweet, but i was told by him that it was okay and it tasted superbly good.
I know right..... looks like Kel was having "intercourse" with the statue from far, tsk tsk.... thanks to my awesome photography skills *flicks hair*.
So some usual photos, i find that i look so damn fat thanks to the few layers of outfits, should not stand too near to him which apparently makes me fatter, so GOD........i am in deep depression, i need some antidepressants to ease my pain, especially those food in Perth, everything cheese, cream, butter............as i said, should dig a grave, 6 feet underground for me, then feed me those pizzas, quiches, carbonara, chicken pies and just bury me, that speeds up the process and lesser pain for me.
Well, as much as i hate dislike this city since i am almost bored till death, but i do adore its scenery, every corner in Fremantle is seriously breath-taking, the sea breeze was awesome as well, you can find a lot of Australians, tourists hanging around the area. We did try the famous Fish & Chips (Cicerellos) too and it turned out pretty impressive, i just love the creaminess and richness of the fresh oysters (details shall be covered in my food blog, kenhuntsfood.com). Overall, i find Fremantle is seriously a very worth-visiting place (especially for those that are coming over soon, be it convocation or any other reasons) and special thanks to Kelvin for fetching me there, had my wonderful Saturday afternoon spent there. Till next update, Chow ~
