Vacation Runaway- Hong Kong 2012 (DAY 4)

Day 4 was definitely one of the most interesting out of the one week trip as we get to meet another classmates of ours from Penang too. Wondered where to eat, passed by a Sze Chuan restaurant, decided to give it a try....

Went into this Gui Lin (China) noodles shop for brunch...the menu was some what astonishing, definitely something that i have not seen in Malaysia before. Upon ordering,we were given a small bowl of chili (photo 1). It was super duper hot, too hot until you might consider to strip off all your clothes and dance. According to my friend, the chili was some how considered as authentically prepared. Works well with any dishes, would definitely be a hit if someone brings it to Malaysia. More shopping right ahead. Went around to spend the extra time before meeting our friend - SL. More delicious shirts bought from Esprit. :P

Mr. Starving knocked the door around evening. We patronized the area and immediately spotted this outlet. It was being featured on a food guiding show on TVB before. Barbecue Chicken Wings. Each of us had a couple of skewers, was very good, but not up to the stage where they are heavenly good. Grilled some vegetables as well, tasted pretty weird tho...

We had some beef ramen as dinner. These were very good indeed, especially with their home made chilies. The first picture was about beef ramen and the following one was beef too, but with some fish balls added.

Supper time ~ ! We sure can eat huh.....after meeting up with our friend, we immediately headed for clay pot rice. Their clay pot rice was very special, as in the soy sauce would not be added into the rice and most of them come with very few chopped spring onions as if the spring onions were so rare and expensive like diamonds. Big "yucks" to the clay pot rice, they were some random white rice topped with some meat rubbish, with no salt added. The soy sauce does not even carry sufficient saltiness. Anyway, four of us walloped a total of HKD 300+.

Went to one of the most famous tourist attractions in Hong Kong- Arena of Stars for a walk after the supper session. Windy enough to blow away my wig (you believe i am wearing one arh :D). Spent HKD 40 to hire some not-too-professional-photographer to help us on capturing a group photo and instant washed it out. The walk was quite long but very comfortable. Went back to the hotel after that, was around 2am that time.

Vacation Runaway- Hong Kong Trip 2012 (DAY 3)

Day 3 was pretty boring and normal. It started off with breakfast at nearby.

Fish cake congee and pork chop noodles as breakfast. Normal and more to the tasteless side, extra drizzle of soy sauce was definitely needed. Surprisingly, their way of serving pork chop was very unique, as in they will serve the pork chop in one big piece instead of slicing them into pieces.

Turbo Jet's departure time was at 2pm, after breakfast, we had some random walks around the St. Paul Ruins area again. Grabbed some souvenirs from there and more photos taking session. Took cab and left to the ferry terminal and headed back to Hong Kong. Well, one of my main intentions to visit Hong Kong was because of the shopping. Branded stuff like Esprit, Zara, G2000 are actually pretty cheap (as compared to Malaysia). The terminal at Hong Kong was actually pretty near to a famous shopping center, so yea, bought some awesome shit from there, Esprit Factory Outlet :D And oh ! Upon coming out from the custom, some wolf-look-alike security took my body temperature a check, probably they suspected i have been affected from the bird flu or H5N1. Totally waste of time, i would have infected others if i really do carry the virus.

The horrible past experience from the trip to Macau via the turbo jet taught me a lesson. I need some medicine to prevent or at least, to minimize the dizziness. Bought myself the medicine for $4 pataca. Had some street food from Hong Kong (nearby the hotel district as we were too tired to walk around). Get myself an eggette, very nice snack, rich of the custard flavor. Some beef balls, octopus, fish balls, sausages etc....Went to bed earlier due to tiredness.

Vacation Runaway- Hong Trip 2012 (DAY 2)

Day 2 started off with some packing war, struggling which clothes to bring over to Macau. Thankfully, we were allowed to leave our baggage at the hotel. Brunch at some random cafe again.

Basically had some of these, random noodles with some beef brisket and octopus-balls. Taste was okay but expensive as usual. Proceeded with the plan right after that. Headed to the ferry terminal to grab the tickets for the turbo jet to Macau. Priced at HKD 305 each person, for both ways that is.

The ride on the turbo jet was a nightmare. the feeling was way beyond words. Photo was taken before i passed out. Its like having an earthquake with a magnitude of 10 or more, whole world feels like shaking. I wanted to crawl over the seats to the toilet and puke, but i just could not move. Half passed out you can say. Had my will to survive was not strong enough, i might have met Jesus in heaven already. Can't even stand straight when approaching to the custom. Things went smoothly after that, walked out from there and took a cab, straight to our hotel. The hotel at Macau was a heaven, while you can say the one in HK was hell. Took a rest and we moved on with our plans to the famous St. Paul Ruins.

The long walk to St. Paul Ruins was a torture. The temperature was freezing cold that time. The city was practicing a much slower pace as compared to Hong Kong, it makes me feel very comfortable walking down the streets, as if i have walked back to the past, since the buildings are much of older ones.

It was obviously very crowded that time, "squeezing tuna" in Mandarin. Managed to get a pretty girl to take a photo for us. The ruins were cute, as in there was only a wall standing right up there, nothing much to see actually. Took some time to scout around the area and snapped some photos for self-collection, i do went up the stairs and have a look at the scenery but just.....nothing much.

Found a weird stairs up, thought that was a good spot to take photo and decided to post like korean artists :P

Down the street of St. Paul Ruins, the whole street was selling souvenirs/local delicacies. The not-to-miss food were obviously their Almond Biscuits, Portuguese Egg Tarts and the famous Pork Bun. All of them were very good indeed. Prices are slightly lower compared to Hong Kong's. The texture and taste of the egg tart was pretty much similar to those that we can find in Malaysia, but the freshly baked almond biscuits and generously cut pork chop bun were heavenly good. Must try.

Casino is a must-visit place too if you happened to be in Macau. We visited the famous Venetian Casino, due to the Gondola Rides and artificial river created within the building. You can pay to hire some staff to sing for you and drive you around using the Gondola as well. The whole ceiling part was made up of blue colored sky, truly stunning. Casino...casino....tsk tsk tsk, i just contributed HKD 320 to the owner of Venetian Casino. Enough said.

Dinner at the food court of Venetian Casino. Well, everyone knows i am poor.....poor mah eat like a poor lor.....an 'ewwwww' chicken bento costs me around 68 pataca. The vietnamese pho costs around 70 pataca too. Well said by one of the famous economists, "Poor gets poorer, rich gets richer".

Supper was VERY GOOD at Macau. All of these actually cost me 100 pataca only, which was extremely cheap, even though by Malaysian standards. Moreover, the portions were very big, they worked perfectly with some beers :D. From the first picture, Sze Chuan Spicy Chili Beef, Sze Chuan Style Chicken Feet Salad, and Gyoza (Japanese Dumplings). Love the beef and chicken feet. Can't even find back the taste after coming back to Penang. :(

Something fun to share. They actually have this Cream of Pumpkin Soup at their McDonalds'. Price was roughly around 12 pataca (around Rm5). Taste was okay but very creamy, i can't even finish this small bowl by myself. And yea, that pretty much concluded my trip in Macau, Day 2.
